Evil doesn’t span eternity without a little help.
In this modern monster tale of Dracula’s loyal servant, Emmy nominee Nicholas Hoult (Mad Max: Fury Road, X-Men franchise) stars as Renfield, the tortured aide to history’s most narcissistic boss, Dracula (Oscar® winner Nicolas Cage). Renfield is forced to procure his master’s prey and do his every bidding, no matter how debased. But now, after centuries of servitude, Renfield is ready to see if there’s a life outside the shadow of The Prince of Darkness. If only he can figure out how to end his codependency.
Renfield is directed by Emmy winner Chris McKay (The Tomorrow War, The LEGO Batman Movie) from a screen story by The Walking Dead and Invincible creator Robert Kirkman and a screenplay by Ryan Ridley (Ghosted series, Rick & Morty series).
The film also stars Golden Globe winner Awkwafina (The Farewell, Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of Ten Rings), Emmy winner and Oscar® nominee Shohreh Aghdashloo (House of Saddam, House of Sand and Fog), Ben Schwartz (Sonic, The Afterparty), Adrian Martinez (The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, Focus) and Brandon Scott Jones (Ghosts, The Other Two).
Renfield is a Skybound/Giant Wildcat production, produced by Chris McKay, Samantha Nisenboim (co-producer, The Tomorrow War), Bryan Furst (Daybreakers), Sean Furst (Daybreakers), Robert Kirkman and David Alpert p.g.a. (The Walking Dead). The executive producer is Todd Lewis (unit production manager, Jason Bourne). Giải trí
Fan fact: Nicholas cage didn't know that he was filming he just doing what he does every day
"I' m a Vampire!"
I swear iv seen this girl in so many pfp's by now
its cage he just livin life like always😅
Not a fact. I would know
Whoever decided to make Nic Cage Dracula is a freakin genius.
1000000000000000% man, I CANNOT WAIT.
That's exactly what I thought!!!
Nick Cage didn’t make Dracula, Dracula made Nick Cage. 👍🏼
It was originally supposed to be Jude Law but he dropped out. So glad that he did.
Man can chew the scenery better than anyone else, they just gave him the right teeth.
I have a simple rule, if Nick Cage is in a movie you have to see it no matter how bad it may be
Bad nick Cage movies circle back round to good the same way a dropped cat always lands on its feet.
How dare you? There is no bad nick cage movie!
@Budget , AHEM…. Ghost Rider 2…..
@Osman Yousif still good enough for me hahaha
@crazymarkiplierfan
Maybe I'm trippin', but Nick Cage is usually the best part of any bad movie he's in.
There's some absolutely spot on casting going on here, and not just the obvious one of Nic Cage as Dracula
I agree! He makes a fantastic vampire!
Who else?
@Mingdian Li The forced diversity Chinese woman
@userdetails1 What makes you think it's forced? If they were all asian women it'd look forced.
I won’t lie, ‘I deserve to be happy’ is actually a really good theme for a movie and for some reason it’s not one that’s used that often
have you ever watched movie before?
ok
ok
It’s mostly used for women trying to convince themselves getting a divorce is the only solution😂
I've been collellecting vintage horror comic books because of their intense artwork, cult horror films, and have been editing and enhancing images for a few years now. This movie is art and everything what a film should be. Rather than relying on baseless violence or plot, it clearly relies on cinematography, realistic costumes and set pieces, as well as on art quality. This movie is also very original. I guess Hollywood is getting the message. People want to see more movies like these.
Which people?
@Paul Gruendler , various. But recently it's been Howard the Duck and The Tomb Of Dracula. I might start looking into Swamp Thing or Morbious.
Nicolas Cage as Dracula is such great casting, I don’t understand why no one has thought of it before.
Its Because of his uncle.
I think Jim Carrey would be interesting as well in this role.
Johnny blaze is kinda gone lol
@TermlessGHM perfect and adam Sandler lol
Saw it yesterday! It’s probably his most perfect fitting role to date.
Loved it!
I don't normally write movies down on my calendar, but I've had this written down for a couple of months. April 14th. I HAVE TO SEE THIS. I freaking LOVE Nic Cage, and I'm way too hyped about him playing Dracula. Y'all did perfect casting with this one. Holy crap!!! I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!
Was it as good as you hoped?
@tohrurikku I've seen it yesterday. I didn't had huge hopes, but I liked the trailer and Nic Cage as Dracula. The story could have been more exploited, but the performances are great and there are some solid comedy moments. The action scenes were also good and gory and I loved Dracula's more serious moments. It's not a great movie, but worth watching if you want a comedy and have some spare time. For me, it's like a 7/10
I never really thought about this scenario before, but when I saw Nic Cage acting out the Count I instantly realized how perfect he fits the role.
Been a fan of Nicholas Hoult since watching The Great (awesome show, he and the rest of the cast are perfection) so I'm really excited for this!
He is phenomenal here!!
He is a phenomenal actor!
Good or bad, this movie will definitely be a fun one.
A bad movie can be fun?
@Ba'alMany bad movies are fun. Cough cough fast and furious movies
It was somewhat above mediocre
Nichols Cage as a vampire is gold.
Nicolas Cage face reminds me of Vampire's Kiss (1988)
Huge mistake more like.
you don't say?
Forward Boldly - Song at the Scaffold by Church Militant.
A humans neck. I could eat a humans neck for hours
- Nicholas Cage
When I saw Nicolas Cage as Dracula for the first time, as a vampire fan, I was absolutely floored.
This was a great movie. It had the elements of comedy, action, thriller, horror never a dull moment. Cage was the perfect Dracula. This is a must see!!!
Awesome movie, loved every second of it.
Hoult and Cage did amazing job! it was super funny and cool in every way.
The funniest part of this is that Cage actually looks a lot like Bela Lugosi in the costume.
He looks more like Christopher Lee.
As a die hardcore horror movie fanatic I can tell u this movie absolutely Has tons of potential to be a great horror movie, I can't believe I'm saying that knowing Nicholas cage is in it
Tbh if you're a diehard horror fanatic then you shouldn't be surprised; know Nic Cage has recently been in great horror movies like Mandy and Colour Out of Space. And, while I personally hated Willy's Wonderland, a lot of people in the horror community seemed to enjoy that film, too.
I really like actually how Renfield gets his power from eating critters just like how he thought he did in the books. Emphasis on thought, the man was just a looney who worshipped Dracula for some reason
When you think about it, that's an interesting idea, and it kind of makes sense. If looking at just the 1931 film, Renfield was a real estate agent and got bitten by Dracula. Forced to be his servant. That wasn't the case in the novel.
@Ricardo Davis Has to be one of the few times I prefer most film adaptations of a character than the author's original version
kind of reminds me of Everything Everywhere All At Once where characters are able to access abilities of alternate-universe versions of themselves simply by doing something weird such as putting each shoe on the wrong foot, swallowing a knick-knack, or even snorting a fly up your nose.
the blood is life!!!!
@Victor M Yeah, but actually no, while that movie took the randomness as a factor Renfield is consistent that it has to be living creatures.
The relationship between Dracula and Renfield seem like a metaphor for how it is to live with a Narcissist
Bot
Its funny you’ve said that
That’s kinda the plot of the movie but youll see
This looks so f’king incredible! I absolutely must see this. Brilliant casting, brilliant choice of music, brilliant script and dialogue. This will be my favorite movie of the year.
Yea, Radiohead Creep is in it.
This looks so good. I love how the genre of buddy cop movies are surviving by acknowledging that a relatable cop is just as plausible as a relatable vampire.
Sometimes a movie relies on its well written story and memorable characters. Other times a movie relies on it's gorgeous visuals and cinematography. And then there are movies that just need Nicolas Cage dressed up as Dracula.
10/10. No notes.
I love the look of this.
Nice
Nice
cool
👍
👍👍👍
His facial expressions were amazing. Like his “I know you’re lying and I’m pissed off but imma let you finish” face lol
I love how this isn’t just a vampire flick. It a funny message for those who hate a job to get tf out lol. Can’t wait for this one looks funny.
Since its release this weekend critics have been slating it. Can I just say this was one of the best movies I've seen this year, If you go to see movies to simply be entertained, this is for you. Cage is absolutely brilliant as Dracula, the mix of comedy and gore are perfect.
This reminds me of Hellsing Ultimate. Tho I like Hellsing more because of the subject matter and the relationship between Dracula (or Alucard in this case) and his fledgling Seras Victoria.
I absolutely agree. I hope it'll be the first movie I see twice in theaters during its first release. It's just camp, fun, and gore.
@Jammin' out Rexan I've already seen it twice at the cinema, and 3 times at home after getting a great pirate copy of it from a friend.. It gets better and better each time you watch it.
This looks so much fun!
I hope the gore doesn’t look too cartoony in the actual film
This role suits Nicholas Cage so well
Nic Cage has been one of my favorite actors for over 30 years now..going back to when I was just 7 years old barely speaking English and i love him even in his worst movies...but damn am i glad he's having this resurgence.. Let the NicoNaissance continue
I'm gonna be honest this actually looks so good...also Nicholas cage as a vampire actually suits him...the song they used is so perfect you gotta love creep by radiohead
Cage makes only a handful of appearances in the film. But the trailers give the impression that he is featured more prominently.
@GameXentral idk, he does many small studio stuff now.
@GameXentral he's literally the main antagonist
It does
It's a thing that's been with him very early on in his career, check out Vampire's Kiss
Now he can run down the street screaming "I'm a vampire, I'm a vampire!" and mean it - and I'm down for it.
I'm wishing that there will be a character named Alva, just so he can yell her name.
I haven't seen a trailer for a single movie in years that I actually thought looked fun. This looks like fun. Glad to see Nick Cage once again.
I can't get enough of "i will no longer tolerate.... Abuse". The delivery is so good.
Um...yeah that was *waaayy* more touching than i was expecting....like bro i got kinda emotional ngl. And Nicholas Cage as Dracula is straight up perfect casting 👀🚬
But Nicholas Hoult is greatly underestimated, because he perfectly gets used to his roles.
It looks like a pretty fun and cool movie, its peaking my interest so i'm probably gonna go watch it. Ngl I really liked the "I deserve to be happy" theme, that line really stuck with me
I'm thumbs-upping you, but for others as well, it's 'piquing' my interest.
Seriously, this is a masterpiece. And I'm not even kidding. Must watch.
Another iconic role for Nicholas Cage and Aquafina's best acting role thus far...
You’ll love it! Worth every penny on pay preview 🧛🏻♂️
I have such high hopes for this movie I hope it’s as good as it looks :)
Its funny asf and bloody
This movie made me laugh so hard, I cried. Great film. Highly recommend it.
It sucked
It was funny when the Chinese cop was making fried rice
Just watched.
GLORIOUSLY brutal!
Did not shy away from presenting Dracula as he is:
A MONSTER.
Knowing Robert Kirkman scripted this, makes this film make sense.
I would have thought it may have been Rodriguez or Raimey.
Action packed superhero monster movie mash
I'm so excited about this! Looks like a really cool boss/dad revenge fantasy
Creep by radiohead fits perfectly in any scenario. It takes everything to the next level ❤
Great choice of song and the cover of Creep in the movie is by Boy Epic. Sounds even better
@GeeBs No it doesn't, it sounds terrible compared to the original.
"We cast Nic Cage as Dracula!" is one of the best ideas ever!
The relationship between Dracula and Renfield seems like a metaphor for how it is to live with a Narcissist
Well, Narcissists are often referred to as 'Energy-Vampires' so this metaphor is quite apt.
Living with a Narcissist is more like living with a very dark, very cold and very evil and sinister creature that hides in a human skin suit to trick their victims/prey. Yes, some qualities could be likened to that of a Vampire but even Vampires have an ultimate agenda that comes to a point. They have a process which ultimately surrounds self indulgence but they seem like they have souls and can even have personalities too.
Narcissists are numb, hollow, have no soul and are completely lost. They cannot relate to a "normal" person mentally, emotionally, spiritually, etc. ... they are completely disonnected from any and all things that are connected to the soul. They are honestly just a black hole of nothing. True Narcissists dont know who they are in any form and the only reason they keep their victims around is to completely copy them because they are terrified of themselves and they despise being alone. They can't take it! They NEED to have someone they find intelligent, attractive, someone with a strong personality and someone that is very in-touch with their emotions and mind around them privately (someone they can feed off of) so that they can copy that person and use what they are "stealing/taking" from said person to impress other people they are desperately trying to gain acceptance from.
It is more similar to a teenager who is DYING trying to fit in with whatever group they are currently in, that they'll do absolutely anything to be accepted--but with a whole sinister mindset all while housing themselves in an adult body. They CONSTANTLY lie--they cannot stop lying, it's like they have no self control. They are OBSESSED with sex, touching themselves and anything regarding sexual themes. They can't get enough of that. They don't take care of themselves and are very sloppy. They have horrible hygiene and don't do anything for themselves. They are OBSESSED with money and materialistic objects, which they infinitley desire so deeply but wont do anything for themselves to obtain anything. They have ABSOLUTELY no know-how on how to hold a conversation OTHER THAN TO COPY THE THINGS YOU SAY OR THINGS THEY HEAR YOU SAY TO OTHERS!! They also do not know how to start a conversation, that is why they will eves-drop on you so that they can understand how to mimic and copy what you say and how to say it. Shit, they'll even use the same phrases as you, they'll use the same vocabulary as you. It's fu**ing nuts!! They have no interest in building anything with you because they don't mentally comprehend the true purpose of life. This is why it is so painful to be with and around them.
My idea of them is that they are literally just a set of lips with a VERY, VERY annoying voice who does nothing but talk crap, lie, belittle, put down, degrade, copy, repeat, etc. Unfortunately, there is a body and living brain attached to those lips but the lips is all that they use besides their butthole to crap. That's it. Literally.
I know this because I have been with one going on 13 years in june, and when i met him, he asked me to live with him and his family and all of them are Narcissists too. Him, his mom and grandma were the main ones who showed me how evil people could really be. It was a nightmare!! I finally got away from them in 2020 right before the pandemic and now i just deal with him. I've successfully left once and stayed gone for just over 3 years until he flat out lied and tricked me to come back. I was back here for 2 years before i even realized that everything he had been feeding me for the entire 3 years i was gone plus the 2 years of me being back here was all lies and false! But that's just a small portion of the crap so I'll just leave it there.
Just in my opinion though--Vampires seem more egocentric and habit driven. They even dress nice and have a sense of style. Although they live in mad chaos and hide/lurk in the shadows, they are very passionate and from what I understand, through reading quite a few books, reading historical tales and films/documentaries--Vampires DO feel as well.
@Lavender Lady TMI. No one needs to hear your life story. Everyone claims to be the ex of , or current wife of a "narcissist" these days. 🥱.
@Lavender Lady I notice the people that say they're with narcissists are usually the type of people who love talking about themselves. Like attracts Like.
😂 that's so great! Dead on accurate
Every part of this looks good. Hoult, Cage, the make up, the female love interest and the ties to classic Dracula. Wow.
There is no way in hell I'm going to watch this in the theater, but when it hits Redbox I'm there. Watching Nicholas Cage as Dracula is going to be a treat.
for me i feel this is a movie i want to support in the cinema
I'll probrably watch it in the theatre and, if I enjoy it enough, (it LOOKS enjoyable) I will get it when it comes out on DVD and Blu-ray.
This actually looks like a hidden gem. If the trailer got me laughing, I already know I gotta see it!
I'm sure Nick Cage is going to be great in this film, He's played a vampire before, "Kiss of the Vampire" He was amazing in that role as well.
Honestly. An incredible movie! The cast is perfect!!!!
This trailer was honestly so much better than the first one. I hope the movie is more in line with this trailer.
I got to participate in a virtual audience test screening for this movie (see edit for details) a few months ago. It wasn’t the full movie, it was various scenes and we would rate how we enjoyed them, if we thought they were funny or not, etc. What I did see looked really fun and entertaining. It gave me a very “What We Do In The Shadows” type of vibe. I’m excited to see the full movie.
EDIT: I did NOT see the entire movie and I’m not trying to claim I have. The thing I participated in was about 30-45 mins including the survey; I would say I saw maybe 15 mins of the films, if that. It was done online and not in person. The purpose of my comment is to say I’m excited about the movie because I saw a small bit of it and I’m eager to see more.
How do you get to be part of a test screening?
Nice. And thanks for the little mini review. You know how sometimes the put all the good stuff in the trailer, and then the movie sucks. It's always a worry. This makes it sound like it might fulfill the promise of the trailer.
They didn't make you sign an NDA?
I was there. You weren't. Cool story ......that didn't happen.
@Journey2success it was a virtual screener online
This movie was the ultimate B horror comedy flick! 😂 So fun!
I hope in 20 years we're all stoked to see how the ninth and final chapter of the Renfield saga ends.
Nicholas did amazing AS ALWAYS! and so did everyone else! this movie was good, I'm not one for watching anything twice unless there are months in the gap..
But I watched this twice in 1 week.
1.Renfield
2.The Northman
3.Guy Ritchie's the Covenant
Movies I watched almost more then 3 times same month
This looks SO fun and so good!! I can't wait to watch it! Ben Schwartz too, heck yes!
Can confirm, was a 10/10.
Nick Cage as Dracula is the most inspired casting choice since Klaus Kinski as Nosferatu.
The real actor here was the guy who delivered _the most trusted institution on Earth_ line without bursting into laughter.
Looks like a fun time in the cinema. Its not something grandeur, but im definitely looking forward to see Nick cage do what he do best.
Honestly watching the trailer after seeing the movie in cinemas, it was totally worth going to watch.
Nicholas is always able to reinvent himself, His longevity is insane.
not w/ marriages.
Gotta pay off his massive debts.
Love this version of Creep by Radiohead and I knew I've seen that young actor before. He was in Warm Bodies. And of course, Nicholas Cage and his creepy character, Dracula just fits. 😆
When I first heard about this I expected a dumpster fire. This actually looks like a fun movie!
I like how he’s wearing a medallion similar to the one Bela Lugosi wore in the original 1930s Dracula film! 🤩😎👍
The only thing I feel they should’ve added here was the “widow’s peak” pointy part of hair going down his forehead, also like Lugosi had in the original film! Other than that, he looks pretty AWESOME as Dracula, ngl… 😃😆
Nosferatu in 1920s was the first Dracula film no?
@loey32 … It was the first vampire (silent) film, yes … but Lugosi played the first cinematic Count Dracula, based on Bram Stoker’s novel surrounding his origins as Vlad the Impaler!
I don’t know how this movie is going to be.
But this movie surely has meme potentials.
Just came back from seeing this! A pretty solid movie, 9/10!!
This looks entertaining as hell, definitely a must see. Two of my favorite Nick's together
Nicolas Cage face reminds me of Vampire's Kiss (1988)
I would like to like this... But I don't want to disturb the 42 Likes.
love it💗
love it💗
love it💗
I love trailers that shows 80% of the movie, including all the plot points. Marvelous.
This didn’t show not even half of the plot points but ok
I hope Cage runs around yelling "I'm a Vampire! I'm a Vampire!"
Brilliant Movie !!!
It’s like Kick Ass meets Blade..
Finally Nicholas Cage get his wish to play the role of a real vampire, instead of just pretending to be one. 😂😂
Nicholas Cage and Akwafeena is a match made in comedy heaven!
Christopher Walken going "RAWR" as the Hessian, and Nic Cage as Dracula...Perfect. just perfect.
I haven't sat through a full movie in years more less went to the cinema but this movie might be the exception. Looks like fun!
It's been ages since we've had a completely evil Dracula on the big screen. Here's hoping this movie's good.
It truly has a deeper meaning
For once a "cheesy movie trailer song cover" might be near as good as the original that high note was awesome! I really like all the gore and the world they created around Renfield definitely gets at that horror vibe but then Aquafina grounds it in reality too.
What song is this?
@Awakens Creep by Radiohead.
@Edwin Stapleton thanks
THEY GOT AQUAFINA TO PLAY THE STRAIGHT ROLE WHILE EVERYTHING ELSE IS BONKERS. this is like the first half of The Other Guys with Will Farrell playing the straight role.
Isn't it a remix of the original.
The voice sounds pretty much exactly like the original with just more reverb.
*They sure as hell pick the right character to play as Count Dracula lol....Nickolas Cage is spot on* 🤣🤣🤣
Most hyped a trailer has made me in the past two years
I don't watch alot of Nick Cage movies and some of them are weird but it's always entertaining to see him act in a silly types of movies
I like the part where Aladdin says to the monkey “that’s my banana nut bread, get your own..bitch”. Yes, that scene.
I love the look of this. Nicholas Cage always gives it 110%. In fact, he ages so annoyingly well... not sure this might be semi-biographical.
Anyway, it's going to be added to my list of 'Must See Films' - and, until recently, that list has been gathering dust.
Thanks for your the love and support.
Such a novel and hilarious take on this centuries old story. Nic as Drac, Nicholas as Renfield and goddamn Awkwafina! This is gonna be fucking silly fun!
No wonder the guy playing Reinfeild looks very familiar, he’s the Beast from X-Men and he’s Jack the Giant Slayer! 😅
this is just perfect. Nicolas Gage being Dracula has got to be the best casting ever.
I LOVE IT!! I have always LOVED😍 Nicholas Cage 🥰, I have every movie he has ever been in, and one of my Favorites is Vampires Kiss! so I am REALLY happy to see him do this...He Finally became that Vampire he swore he was 😄
Not going to lie, this looks pretty BADASS!!!
This looks great and Cage's Dracula looks incredible. Excited and glad Hoult is getting more roles in Hollywood.
Nicolas Cage has always dreamt of playing Dracula. This is his dream come true.
Can't wait for him to go crazy in this movie. "THE BEES, NOT THE BEES!"
Well I’m here for this! Opening weekend I will be there and if it is as good as these trailers are I might go twice.
Nick Cage finally gets to be the Vampire he always thought he was.
Little worried about this after *Vampire's Kiss,* but... as a vampire writer, I think I have to give it a shot
FINALLY....a nicholas cage character I can actually like lmfao
please let this be as good as I want it to be
I love that song, I love Nic Cage, I LOVE Nicolas Hoult, and I love Awkwafina
This is a very well made trailer!
Seeing Nicolas Cage as Count Dracula in this movie is like me seeing a fusion of Bela Lugosi and Christopher Lee, because that's what I am now seeing from the Count Dracula in this film, the Nicolas Cage version of Count Dracula in this new film is a cross between the Bela Lugosi version of Count Dracula and the Christopher Lee version of Count Dracula.
Can't wait! I hope it's as fun as it looks!
