The Real Reason Why Netflix May Be In Big Trouble

  • For years, the name 'Netflix' has been synonymous with endless, joyful binge-watching - but current trends suggest that the company could be facing some seriously rough terrain in its bid to remain the world's premier streaming service. Here's why Netflix might be in seriously big trouble.
There hardly seems to be a month that goes by in which some Netflix original movie or series doesn't light up the world of pop culture, but it's quickly becoming apparent that this knack for success can be a double-edged sword. The massive amounts of money that Netflix have sunk into their original offerings has certainly paid off, with series like 13 Reasons Why and Stranger Things and films such as Bird Box becoming the kind of cultural touchstones once exclusively produced by cable networks such as HBO.
However, a problem with this model has reared its ugly head: Netflix is starting to pick up a reputation for axing shows before they've had time to develop. Fans were particularly irked by the cancellation of the critically adored One Day at a Time after three seasons, and the unceremonious axing of Tuca & Bertie shortly after its first season debuted. Netflix famously only share viewership numbers when they feel like it, so fans can't even get a good idea of just how poorly a series has to perform before the axe falls. This trend of abrupt cancellations is only getting more pronounced as Netflix's original library expands, leaving many fans feeling that it's just not worth investing in them in the first place.
Netflix will spend $15 billion on original content in 2019, a budget which has steadily increased year after year. But in contrast to recent years, the streamer's efforts to field something for everyone is beginning to lead to an increasingly crowded and confusing field of originals. This can be a problem for some of Netflix's offerings, as the platform's algorithm can often fail to suggest shows that might interest certain viewers, at least partially because there's just so much available. Keep watching the video to see the real reason why Netflix may be in big trouble!

These “Netflix killers” will actually kill the streaming services. They became popular cos they had everything in one place and we didn’t have to pay 10 subscriptions a month. Dividing everything up will only take steaming the way that anime has gone, everyone just pirates and no one cares.

While you subscribe to all those places, remember that you are the reason of the road ahead.
I see people supporting those big companies and at the same time complaining that streaming will become like cable. Just like cable lost power because of you, so can this idea.
I'm all for competition, but think of the consequences ahead.
Supporting big companies means eliminating the companies who introduced the option to cut cable to you in the first place.
After eliminating the competition, those big companies will then once again have you, like they once did, and without other options, you will either have to succumb to their demands, or be without of content, or whatever content they deem to not care for it and have no problem letting a small company keep it.

Well, I'm not paying for ads. I will watch the shows I'm already invested in (Stranger Things, Ozark, The Crown, Bojack Horseman) until they conclude and I'll just have to see beyond that.
Btw, I've been waiting 2 years for the 4th season of Better Call Saul to drop on Netflix, so they can't even keep up with their licensed content. It's bullshit.

It's so hard to even sort to what I want on Netflix. The algorithm is god there. You can't blindly search through a genre of films without it's presence. Even your watchlist which you think might be safe and in the order you add things is threatened. At one point the setting to turn off this "feature" did something but now I have no choice but to view my long list of things I put on my personal list in the order the algorithm god dictates. It's frustrating as hell and why I quit.

All the main services cost 51 a month. (No apple plus, peacock, CBS or anything weird) that's way less than a cable package which people willingly paid for a long time. I doubt any of the core services are going anywhere anytime soon. Most of them have big shows people will care to see and most people can get these services for less with deals, sharing and switching out services. It just means more content, 13 dollars a month for all the content wasn't really going to work forever.

perhaps Netflix will have to just produce content for nitches at a higher price, rather than what they are doing nowadays, producing high and low quality content, knowing the masses are so unwilling to pay a few bucks more. They already own the content and the know-how (Disney+ crashed on their first days), I see no need for Netflix to disappear when they could just become more exclusive.

  • Pablo Garcia Coutiño

Netflix has made itself extinct. But largely due to its promotion of drug use-sale and promotion of globalist agenda (LBGTB, Socialism, Climate, ethnic) etc. Netflix spent 8 billion in 2018 (100% of all of it's subscription revenues) and it will never recover all of the money they are "investing" on proprietary series and movies. R.I.P. Netflix in 2020.

    • Pablo Garcia Coutiño
Pablo Garcia Coutiño 16 ngày trước

@Stephen Olan Maybe that applies to Germany; but the rest of the world is 365/24/7 and the main theme of the video and my comment is how Netflix overspends, ideologizes and is destroying it's consumer base (by shoving drugs-anti-values-and-anti-heroes down our throats, when we are the consumers, and it's not stuff we ever want to or should watch, ever)

    • Stephen Olan

@Pablo Garcia Coutiño It was the religious right who said I could not shop on Sundays.

    • Pablo Garcia Coutiño
Pablo Garcia Coutiño 16 ngày trước

@Stephen Olan wrong again. I don't see religion lobbying to put vegans-anorexics-enviromentalism-drugs-sales-narcopromotion but you see every series, every movie that Netflix produces and voilá all that crap is included. It violates my belief system, and this is why I do not see anything produced or made by Netflix.

    • Stephen Olan
      Stephen Olan 17 ngày trước

      @Pablo Garcia Coutiño
It is the religious right that wants to control people's lives and tell everyone what they can and can not do.
Look up the phrase New World Order and who said it a lot.
Sodomy is still illegal in some states?
Do you really think that it is the socialist states?

    • Pablo Garcia Coutiño
Pablo Garcia Coutiño 17 ngày trước

Stephen Olan jajaja, yeah right!! I think you are totally incorrect. It is a socialism-environment-feminist-etc movement. They believe in authoritarian rule. Which contradicts the republic and the rule of law; there isn’t a series or movie in Netflix that doesn’t promote drug use or the drug business or their globalist and progressive way of thinking.

I won't use Netflix because it has so much usa content.
Usa tv shows are guaranteed to be simplistic, formulaic, and the characters aren't relatable to me, a non usa person.
Also, the prevalence of guns, the normalisation of violence and the thoughtless and impolite way characters treat each other. Yuck.

This is why piracy will increase. Why? to many streaming options. This is going right back to paying as much as cable. The reason for people moving away from cable was because of the cost. Greediness will make this redundant. I stay away now because of too much greed right now. I will find alternative methods. It's getting out of control and I hate this because it actually takes away from my time and pocket. FU
