I was more impressed by TJD tonight than when he has put up big scoring numbers. He realized that he was struggling, and rather than force the issue just to rack up points, he did literally everything else to help the Hoosiers win. And JH-S really stepped up to fill the scoring void. There is nothing better than sweeping the Boilermakers.

    • The Economy Traveler
The Economy Traveler 3 tháng trước +5

Great observation. He did what he had to do ...not what he wanted to do, in order to get a win.

    • motivationalsigma
      motivationalsigma 3 tháng trước +3

Not tryna start a fight.. but did this game prove that Edey is a level above TJD and is a lot better?

I couldn’t agree more, go Hoosiers nation.

    • Danielle Periago
Danielle Periago 3 tháng trước +2

@motivationalsigma Zach Edey is a good player but numbers aren’t everything. He is a good player, but what matters is that you help your team as much as possible.

    • The Economy Traveler
The Economy Traveler 3 tháng trước +2

@motivationalsigma I get where you´re coming from. But you gotta remember, Edey has about 7 inches on TJD. And he brings some weight with that. Edey is just hard to deal with for most other bigs. However, give TJD credit for not trying to force the action. Take care.

Huge win. Best run offense they've had in a long time. Thanks for the upload!

  • Dimitry Raskolnikov

Amazing. Jim Jackson gave Jalen Hood-Schifino his nickname, if it sticks: JHS, Just-Hit-Shots. Ha. He's a streaky shooter. JHS went like 0-6 from 3-point against MSU, and that's a big reason why we lost. Also, Jim Jackson said something like, "It doesn't matter how good your big man is if you can hit outside shots." That's so true, 3-point shooting. Would have been great if Trey Galloway would have made that slam over Edey.

IU is simply more athletic and has better overall court sense. Edey is a liability in transition, especially toward the end of the game. Same thing happened in B-ton. And he cannot pick up anyone driving the lane, ever. He guards the post ok, but that’s it. He didn’t rotate to challenge Schifino once. Zilch. Too slow

    • kevin M.
      kevin M. 3 tháng trước +1

never have been impressed with Edey. He is tall but no court sense. He better secure his education.

    • SLPguy
      SLPguy 3 tháng trước +1

@kevin M. yeah. He’s dominant on offense and on the boards, he really is. But no one talks about how much of that production is offset by his D. He doesn’t control the lane. JHS ate him alive in the lane. Jackson had a bad game (for him) but lit him up in Bloomington too. Tonight everyone else lit him up.

Galloway guarded Braden Smith brilliantly - very impressive. Watch that matchup, he was on him closely most times forcing his drive to the hoop to curl back out and dish the rock elsewhere, many times discombobulating Purdue.

Indiana played out of their league tonight oh my goodness they were so dominant on defense and I actually have Purdue as a final 14 and a number 1 seed. Damn good game

    • SLPguy
      SLPguy 3 tháng trước +1

Umm, out of their league really? They have the #5 recruiting class this year. Plus Jackson-Davis. Picked to win the league. They have way more talent than Purdue. They are playing up to their potential. Well, sometimes.

  • Bryan Machin
    Bryan Machin 3 tháng trước

Jackson-Davis seemed tight and (obviously) ineffective through most of this game, and to be honest the rebounding effort by IU was pretty lousy too (even factoring in that Giant opponent out there).
BUT: IU shot the lights out, and Purdue was BRICK-CITY from 3-point land!
Who would've thunk it! Hoosiers win! That should keep 'em in the top 25!

    • scarey23
      scarey23 3 tháng trước +4

@T man nah, that's the playbook. Just keep fouling. Purdue has been buckling under the pressure of repeatedly getting fouled. They don't call them all and these guys get too frustrated and lose grasp of the game. This coming from a Purdue fan.

    • 〽️ichigan 〽️an
      〽️ichigan 〽️an 3 tháng trước +2

@motivationalsigma I hate saying this but y’all got a-lot of free throw opportunities and didn’t capitalize on them. Purdue only shot 30 % from the field that game. Guard play was horrible. Aside from Edey and Loyer nobody really scored shit.

    • motivationalsigma
      motivationalsigma 3 tháng trước +1

@〽️ichigan 〽️an I agree that we screwed up all of our chances and our guards played terrible again, but I just don't think the refs affected this game much.

Wow another loss for the boilermakers. Not a good time to have a slump. If you were to ask me last month about Purdue I would say they could win it all even though they’re a one man team But now I don’t see them winning it and yes I’m sticking with my statement they are a one man team.

  • Jumali Changi
    Jumali Changi 3 tháng trước

Purdue relied too much on Edey. Missed a lot of free throws and 3's.. Edey would get his numbers but if the others do not step up they would not go further in the tourney..

    • Samuel Moulds

Purdue is in collapse unable to match improving opponents, and the game has gotten inside their heads, creating doubt and hesitation. No defensive stopper. Opponents have woke up to Edey’s critical limitations as a defender. Purdue will be lucky to win two games in the tournament. Purdue is nothing but hype turned to flop!

      SLPguy 3 tháng trước

Nah that’s just who he is. Stands in the post, scores, gets boards that come his way. Plays zero D outside the post and is nowhere to be found in transition or when a guard drives the lane. His guards are 100% on their own against Schifino. It’s as if he doesn’t care if the guards score as long as it isn’t “his guy”. I think it’s part mental, and part physical slowness.

    • Andrew Redkey

    • SLPguy
      SLPguy 3 tháng trước +3

@Andrew Redkey he is a beast overall, no question. But that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have glaring weaknesses. Woodson knows it. He cannot play D off his post and is an absolute liability in transition. That does not bode well in today’s type of tournament play.

@SuperDennyGumper Earlier in the year, Purdue was quite good at passing in and out, getting the ball to the open man, and knocking down shots.
Lately, instead of knocking down open shots, they knock down defenders and throw up forced shots. Fortunately for them, when Edey commits a foul, the refs usually call it on the other team. Unfortunately for them, they've been missing a lot of their shots and free throws.

    • motivationalsigma
      motivationalsigma 3 tháng trước +1
