I ALWAYS use butter then double cream....you'll never want to eat anyone else's mashed potatoes after doing this. I use a fork then a masher and they come out silky smooth...not one lump in sight. Using double cream changed my life. I am now the MASH QUEEN. Somebody get me a crown!

Here's a recipe that my mom still makes mine with.Get some good ass potatoes, i get mine from my local grocer, when u get home wash them, then peel the skin, then wash them again, and there is 2 potatoes per person, for me my mom just puts the 2 potatoes in a pot, and boils them for 10 min, to know if theyre ready will happen when you penetrate the potato with the fork and it comes out, then theyre ready. Once you take em out, grab something and start mashing them until there are no large chunks, after that put some milk for creaminess, the more the milk the more water-y they will be, and also put some margarine before the milk. after youre done my mom puts vegeta seasoning but you can use salt and black pepper.Sauce recipe: grab a very small plate, put some olive oil in it, and red pepper powder (idk how to call it) and mix it around with a spoon, then put some on your mashed potatoes, you can choose to put some sauce and mix it around with the mashed potatoes but i prefer not to.

this recipe is awesome...worked out so well. before I used to just boil any old potatoes, then just lash in milk & butter. The results were lumpy mash that was edible but nothing more. Thanks a million. Good mashed potato can be a meal in itself, great comfort food.

You can’t use an hand mixer? Absolute NONSENSE. I have been using a hand mixer for years and years and my mash turns out very fluffy, silky and smooth every time. Never ended up with a “gummy like paste” ever!

I really like your tutorial and that you explain different methods and why you think which one is better/the best. One method you didnt explain is baking your potatoes in the oven on a bed of salt. Baking your potatoes gives you the fluffiest, tastiest mashed potatoes ever, because no water gets absorbed in the process and the salt helps to dry them out aswell. Also, if you cook your potatoes in water I'd recommend cutting them into bigger cubes, because smaller cubes have a larger surface area which makes them absorb much more water.

Been making mashed potatoes since i was 11I boil in salty water and cook till soft. Strain any excess water and add milk and a lottt of butter , fresh garlic or diced green onions and mash over heat turn off and add salt or pepper to taste. The besttt
